Bashundhara Shuvosangho organized a fruit festival for madrasa students in Bhatara Police Station area of the capital on Wednesday.
The festival was arranged by Shuvosangho’s Bhatara Police Station area unit.
Noted figures present at the event included: Shuvosangho Bhatara Police Station area unit’s Adviser Prof Engr Dr Md Rashidul Hasan, President Md Sabbir Hossain Rupok, Vice-President Kazi Ehsanul Haque Jihad, Joint Organising Secretary Faiyaz Rashid, Work and Planning Secretary Gazi Mashiur Rahman, along with other members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
A colourful display of seasonal fruits—including mangoes, jackfruits, lychees, blackberries (jamun), guavas, bananas, pineapples, watermelons, papayas and oranges—was arranged at the festival. The fruits were later served to the students, who enthusiastically enjoyed tasting a wide variety of local seasonal fruits together. The entire event was marked by a joyful and festive atmosphere.
Prof Engr Dr Md Rashidul Hasan said, "Bangladesh is a land of fruits. A wide variety of seasonal fruits are available throughout the year, which are not only delicious but also highly nutritious. Nowadays, many children are becoming increasingly dependent on fast food, soft drinks and other unhealthy foods, leading to malnutrition, obesity and various health complications. Therefore, it is essential to develop the habit of eating local fruits from an early age. I sincerely thank Bashundhara Shuvosangho for organizing this fruit festival for madrasa students."
Teachers of the madrasa praised the timely initiative, saying, "There is no substitute for programmes like this in raising a healthy and aware generation. Alongside classroom education, such initiatives play an important role in developing healthy lifestyle habits. We hope Bashundhara Shuvosangho will continue organizing similar social and educational programmes in the future."
