Bashundhara Shuvosangho conducted a dengue awareness campaign in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat to raise public awareness about preventing the mosquito-borne disease.
The campaign was held at the Medical Mor area of Hatibandha, where volunteers distributed leaflets among local residents outlining preventive measures against dengue.
Awareness activities were also carried out in the surrounding areas of the Medical Mor and the Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex to encourage people to take necessary precautions to curb the spread of the disease.
Among those present at the campaign was Mohammad Naim Rahman, general secretary of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Lalmonirhat district unit.
Following the awareness programme, an exchange meeting was held to discuss the formation of a full-fledged committee for the Hatibandha upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, lecturer at Government Alimuddin College, along with Shashadhar Barman and Dhananjay Roy.
In their presence, a draft committee for the Hatibandha upazila unit was proposed.
Under the proposed committee, Mohammad Nur Nabi Hossain has been nominated as president and Keshab Chandra Roy as general secretary. A number of other members have also been proposed for various positions in the committee.
Speaking at the programme, Mohammad Naim Rahman said Bashundhara Shuvosangho is working tirelessly to engage young people in social and humanitarian activities with the aim of building a responsible, aware and positive society.
"Initiatives like this will continue in the future to raise public awareness about dengue prevention and to develop youth leadership at the grassroots level," he said.
