Iraqi forces have carried out an operation in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, targeting officials suspected of involvement in financial corruption, Press TV reported.

Early on Sunday, security forces supported by military units entered the Green Zone and launched a series of raids targeting several political figures.

Videos circulating on social media platforms showed heavily armed personnel and military vehicles, including tanks, deployed across the area during the operation.

Footage also appeared to show security forces entering residential compounds and private homes as part of the raids.

A security source said the operation was conducted under judicial orders and focused on individuals facing corruption-related charges.

The source did not disclose the identities of those arrested or provide details about the number of officials targeted.

Local media reports described the operation as one of the largest anti-corruption actions in recent years, with several senior figures reportedly under investigation.
