Bashundhara Shuvosangho continues to work tirelessly for social development, the promotion of sports, and the cultivation of humanitarian values. Sports play a vital role in keeping young people away from drugs, crime, and social degradation while fostering physical fitness, mental development, discipline, leadership, and teamwork.
As part of its efforts to steer adolescents away from drug abuse and internet addiction, the Rowangchhari upazila unit Shuvosangho distributed a football among teenagers in Wagoi Para under the upazila.
Uyi Shing Marma, regional coordinator of Bashundhara Shuvosangho for the hill tracts, said, “There is no alternative to sports in ensuring the healthy development of children and adolescents in the region. Bashundhara Shuvosangho believes that today's sports-loving youth will grow into tomorrow's conscious, responsible, and compassionate citizens.
“We are working to expand sports, education, and social development activities even in the remote hill areas, and such initiatives will continue in the future,” he said.
Shuvosangho Adviser Pintu Tanchangya said that sports are one of the best means of healthy recreation and talent development for children and adolescents in the hill areas.
This initiative by Bashundhara Shuvosangho will encourage them to engage more in sports and inspire them to achieve greater success in the future, he said.
Adviser Apon Tanchangya said that nowadays, many children and adolescents are moving away from sports because of their dependence on mobile phones and technology.
“Initiatives like this are essential to encourage them to return to sports and adopt a healthy lifestyle,” he added.
Rowangchhari upazila unit Shuvosangho President Shimal Tanchangya said, “The organisation has always been working for the welfare of people from all walks of life. Through the distribution of sports equipment, we aim to help develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership qualities among adolescents.”
The local teenagers expressed their delight after receiving the football and thanked Shuvosangho for the thoughtful initiative.
Among others present were Rowangchhari upazila unit Shuvosangho Vice-President Dipa Tanchangya, General Secretary Mong Mong Sai Marma, Organising Secretary Monilal Tanchangya, Publicity and Publication Secretary Shubra Tanchangya, Information and Communication Secretary Antar Tanchangya, and Executive member Athay Marma.
