In a bid to promote environmental conservation and encourage a greener future, Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosangho jointly organised a tree plantation and sapling distribution programme at Rajshahi College on Saturday.
The initiative aimed to inspire young people to take an active role in protecting the environment amid growing urbanisation and the steady decline of green spaces.
Organisers said the programme was not merely about planting trees but about fostering a long-term commitment to building a greener and more sustainable Bangladesh for future generations.
As part of the event, participants planted a variety of fruit-bearing, timber, and medicinal tree saplings across the college campus. Saplings were also distributed among students, encouraging them to plant and care for trees in their own communities.
Among those present were Bashundhara Shuvosangho Rajshahi College unit President Miratuz Jahan Mili, General Secretary Rafat Ahmed Pritom, Organising Secretary Sarwar Alam Shafi, Joint General Secretaries Mithila Farzana Asha and Shahed Islam, Hospitality Affairs Secretary DM Al Amin, Executive member Syed Bin Anwar Fardin Antor, along with other members of the organisation.
Speaking on the occasion, the organisers said a liveable and greener Bangladesh could be achieved through the active participation of young people. They urged everyone to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care, emphasising that such individual efforts would make a significant contribution to environmental protection in the years ahead.
