Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosangho jointly organised a tree plantation programme at Titumir College on Monday.
The initiative was undertaken to promote environmental conservation, combat the adverse effects of climate change and create a clean, green campus.
As part of the programme, saplings of various fruit-bearing and ornamental trees were planted across the college campus and adjacent residential hall areas. The saplings included mango, jackfruit, jamun and hibiscus plants, among others.
Among those present at the programme were Nayan Ali, President of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Titumir College Branch; Vice Presidents Zahid Hasan and Zahirul Islam Zahir; General Secretary Bayazid Hasan Badhan; Joint General Secretaries Nazmul Islam and Robin Hasan; and Treasurer Sabbir Sarkar.
Speaking on the occasion, Bayazid Hasan Badhan said, “There is no alternative to tree plantation if we want to protect the environment and build a livable Bangladesh for future generations. A tree not only provides oxygen but also plays a vital role in preserving biodiversity, maintaining ecological balance and ensuring a healthy environment. Therefore, everyone should plant at least one tree and take regular care of it.”
He added, “Such green initiatives by Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosangho will continue in the future.”
