Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosangho jointly organised a sapling distribution programme among students in Noakhali on Sunday.
The programme was held on the premises of Noakhali Union High School, aiming to encourage students to develop a love for trees, engage in environmental conservation, and contribute to building a greener, more beautiful, and more livable Bangladesh.
The event began with a discussion highlighting the vital role of trees in environmental conservation. Afterwards, students were provided with fruit-bearing, forest, and medicinal plant saplings.
Noakhali district unit Shuvosangho President Nazib Ahmed Nabil said, "Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosangho have long been implementing programmes in education, healthcare, humanitarian assistance, environmental conservation, disaster relief, and youth engagement as part of their social activities.
"As a continuation of these efforts, tree plantation and sapling distribution programmes are being carried out across the country to increase greenery and encourage greater public participation in environmental protection."
General Secretary Meherab Hossain Sayem said, "Tree plantation and sapling distribution programmes involving students will continue in various districts and upazilas across the country. Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosangho remain committed to carrying out such public welfare initiatives to help build a greener, cleaner, and more livable Bangladesh."
The participating students expressed their excitement after receiving saplings from Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
They pledged to plant saplings at their homes, educational institutions, and nearby vacant spaces, and to ensure regular care and maintenance. They also promised to encourage others to participate in tree plantation efforts.
Among those present at the event were Noakhali Union High School Headmaster Md Fazlul Haque, Noakhali district unit Shuvosangho Vice-President Labib Chowdhury, Joint General Secretary Mehedi Hasan Piyal, Organising Secretary Afifa Sultana, Office Secretary Istiha Shabnam, Literary and Cultural Affairs Secretary Arpita Rani Majumdar, and Environment and Climate Affairs Secretary Humayra Afroz.
