Bashundhara Shuvoshangho’s Mymensingh chapter, in collaboration with the Ananda Mohan College Debating Club, organised a friendly debate competition at the new academic building of the college.
The motion for the debate was: "This House believes that the proposed budget is merely an ambitious roadmap aimed at satisfying the conditions of foreign lending agencies such as the IMF, World Bank, ADB, and JICA, as well as achieving political appeasement, rather than addressing the current economic crisis, including the dollar shortage, high inflation, and revenue deficit."
Team 1 represented the government side, comprising Golap Rani (Department of Chemistry), Shobha (Department of Mathematics), and Jobayer (Department of Chemistry). Team 2 represented the opposition side, with Summita (Department of Mathematics), Jenny (Department of Economics), and Talha (Department of Physics).
Demonstrating strong arguments, factual evidence, and effective presentation skills, the government team emerged victorious. Afterwards, all the participants from both sides were gifted with books.
The event was attended by ZHM Jewel, associate professor of the Department of Islamic Studies at Ananda Mohan College, as the special guest. Also present were Abdul Al Mamun, Md Nazmul Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan, Sabbir Islam, and student adviser Khadija Ferdousi Jenny.
President of the Bashundhara Shuvoshangho Mymensingh district chapter, Nafiul Hasan Mubin, said, "Debating is an effective platform for nurturing critical thinking, leadership, and social responsibility among young people. Bashundhara Shuvoshangho will continue organizing such creative events."
