ICT Chief Prosecutor Md. Aminul Islam has said that they will appeal against the 10-year prison sentence of Hasanul Haque Inu, a member of the 14-party alliance, in a crime against humanity case.
He said this after the International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT 2) announced its verdict on Tuesday.
The Chief Prosecutor said that the sentence is insufficient, and an appeal will definitely be filed against this verdict in the Appellate Division.
Earlier, on June 22, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 set June 30 as the date for the verdict.
Chief Prosecutor Md. Aminul Islam was on behalf of the prosecution in the court.
Senior lawyer Mansurul Haque Chowdhury was on behalf of the accused. The charge was filed against him on September 25.
The 39-page charge sheet includes 1,679 pages of documents.
There are also three audio and six video documents. Hasanul Haque Inu has been named as the sole accused in the case.
He has been charged with eight complaints which included inciting the protesters by using force against them by calling them 'BNP, Jamaat, terrorists and communals,' directing, inciting, abetting and assisting in the decision-making and implementation from his high position as the president of Jasad, a partner in the 14-party coalition government, and calling the Kushtia police superintendent to instruct him to suppress the movement and then killing six people.
