A Swedish court on Wednesday ordered Google to pay 14.3 billion Swedish kronor (about $1.46 billion) in damages to price comparison website Pricerunner for unlawfully favouring its own shopping comparison service in search results, reports AFP.
The ruling was delivered by the Patent and Market Court in Stockholm, which found that Pricerunner had suffered financial harm due to Google's practice of promoting its own price comparison service over competitors for several years.
"Pricerunner is considered to have suffered harm as a result of Google having, for many years, unlawfully favoured its own price comparison service," the court said in its verdict.
