The International Day for Tolerance is observed on 16 November every year. To mark the occasion, Bashundhara Shuvosangho Madaripur district chapter organised a discussion on Saturday morning (16 November).
The event was organised at the Bashundhara Shuvosangho School, adjacent to the Peyarpur Ashrayan Project in Sadar Upazila. The event brought together parents, teachers, and students.
The event was presided over by Wahiduzzaman Kajol, president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Madaripur district chapter.
The keynote speaker was Sardar Muhibbullah, Youth Welfare and Employment Secretary of Islami Jubo Andolan Bangladesh (Madaripur Sadar Upazila unit).
General Secretary of Shuvosangho Madaripur chapter Jubayer Zahid and member Didar Molla also participated in the event.
It is noted that on 16 November 1995, member states of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) unanimously adopted the "Declaration of Principles on Tolerance." This declaration called for an international day to raise awareness about the values and significance of tolerance. In light of this, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 51/95 in 1996, officially designating 16 November as International Day for Tolerance.
