Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Tuesday organised a short story writing competition at Jagannath University (JnU) in Dhaka to preserve the memories of the July mass uprising and commemorate the martyrs.
The organisation’s JnU unit hosted the event titled “July Mass Uprising: Preserving the Memories of Martyrs” at the Central Shaheed Minar on the campus.
Students from different departments took part in the contest where the top four winners were also awarded.
Department of Mass Communication and Journalism student Shakerul Islam (academic session 2020-21) stood first, while Mahmudul Hasan of the same department and academic year stood second in the competition.
Mithila Ahsan of the mass communication and journalism department and Bashir Shahriar Ridoy of the Bangla department – both students of the academic session 2022-23 – became third jointly.
Besides, Bangla department students Masud Rana, Arman Hossain, Mostofa Zaman Ridoy, Ujjal Chandra, Kalam Islam, Nasim Hossain, and Shahin Islam, mass communication and journalism students Rakibul Hasan Rabbi, Ashikur Rahman, Naimur Rahman, Sohanur Rahman, and Rakibul Islam, history department student Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, and land management and law students Munir Uddin Sheikh, Riad Hasan Hira, and Happy Akter participated in the contest.
JnU unit Shuvosangho President Md Junayet Sheikh, Vice-President Khadija Akter Alisha, and Publicity Secretary Mushfikur Rahman Emon were present, among others.
In his speech, Junayet Sheikh said, “We have organised the event to commemorate the martyrs of the July mass uprising. We also wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
