Two senior police officers of Rangpur who were on duty at that time of killing of Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University killed in the anti-discrimination students movement, have been sent on compulsory retirement.
These two officers are Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Moniruzzaman and Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Abdul Baten.
In two separate notifications of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday, it was announced that these two officials will be sent on compulsory retirement.
According to the order of the President, the Secretary of Police Branch-1 of the Public Security Department of the Ministry Jahangir Alam signed two proclamations.
According to the notification, member of BCS (police) cadre and Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Moniruzzaman has been retired from public service in the public interest as per the provisions of section 45 of the Public Service Act 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018). This order will be implemented immediately in public interest.
In addition, Rangpur Range DIG Abdul Baten has also been retired from government service in the public interest as per the provisions of Section 45 of Act 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018) in the notification.
