5 killed as auto-rickshaw struck by train at illegal crossing in Cumilla

Five passengers were killed when an autorickshaw was struck by a train at a railway crossing in Cumilla's Burichong Upazila. The death toll is feared to rise, and two others were injured in the accident.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at the Kalikapur railway crossing in Bakshimul Union, Burichong Upazila.

Liaquat Ali Mazumder, Senior Assistant Engineer (Track) for Railway Cumilla, confirmed the incident, stating that a battery-powered auto rickshaw was crossing the unauthorized railway crossing in Kalikapur when it was hit by the Suvarna Express train.

The identities of the deceased and injured have not been released.
