Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selector Abdur Razzak said on Saturday that losing five early wickets against India was an 'accident'.
Bangladesh lost to India by six wickets in their ICC Champions Trophy opening game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 19.
“Actually, it’s not right to judge our team based on just one match where we lost five early wickets. It’s better not to dwell on it. It was just an accident. Talking about form, it’s not accurate to say they’re out of form,” Razzak told reporters on Saturday.
“They’re in great form in ODIs; they just had a slight dip in the last match. Everything is fine, InshaAllah, nothing like this will happen in the next match,” he added.
“The team is in good condition now. Practice is going really well, with great facilities and good net bowlers. The first match is behind us, so it’s better not to drag it out. Had we won, it would have been better, but it is what it is. Overall, the environment is excellent, and Tawhid Hridoy is now fit (recovering from his cramp),” he said.
“Today’s practice was eye-pleasing. Actually, it’s not very tough for us. We practiced today and will do so tomorrow as well. As players, I believe they will adjust. There’s nothing to complain about regarding the conditions—you just have to adjust,” he added.
Bangladesh posted 228 before being all out in 49.4 overs, recovering from a shaky 35-5, thanks to Hridoy’s efforts. However, India’s opener Shubman Gill responded to Hridoy’s century with a well-composed 101* to guide his team to victory in 46.3 overs, reaching 231/4.
