Tigresses make highest ODI score with Jyoti’s century

Bangladesh set their highest team score in ODI cricket with captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti's century and Sharmin Akhtar's unbeaten 94. The Tigresses have capitalized on 271 runs against Thailand in the Women's ODI World Cup qualifier match.

Thailand's Annicha Kamchompu won the toss in Lahore of Pakistan on Thursday and took the wicket of Bangladesh's Ishma Tanzim in the first innings.

However, another opener Farzana Haque and Sharmin Akhtar put up resistance for the second wicket. When Farzana retired after scoring 53 runs off 82 balls in her individual innings, the pair's 104-run partnership was broken. Later, Sharmin formed another partnership with captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti.

The two of them put on a 152-run partnership in the third wicket. The third wicket fell on the last ball of the innings at 271 runs, with Jyoti retiring after scoring 101 runs off just 80 balls. The devastating innings included 15 fours and 1 six.

In addition, Sharmin remained unbeaten on 94 runs off 126 balls, hitting 11 fours.

The previous highest innings by the Bangladesh women's team was 252 runs which they made against Ireland in Mirpur last November. In addition, the Bangladesh women's team achieved the feat of 250 runs in ODIs for the third time.
