India is set to host the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup this September. To earn a spot in the eight-team event, Bangladesh must first compete in the qualifying tournament, which kicked off in Pakistan yesterday.
In six-team competition, Nigar Sultana, Fargana Hoque, and their teammates are playing their first match today against the Thailand women’s team.
In the match, Bangladesh lost the toss and were sent in to bat first.
The game began at 10:30 AM Bangladesh time at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground.
The tournament is being held in a in league-style tournament, where each team plays the others once.
With that in mind, the Bangladesh team left for Pakistan aiming to win at least four out of their five matches.
Bangladesh has no prior experience playing against Thailand in the ODI format.
However, in T20Is, the two teams have faced off seven times, with Bangladesh winning all seven encounters.
Today, the Tigresses aim to maintain their unbeaten record against Thailand.
