A drone has been found at the official residence of Asif Nazrul, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser to the interim government. The Digital Forensics Team of the Cyber Crime Investigation Division under the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recovered the drone and sent it to a forensic lab for examination.
An investigation is underway to determine where the drone came from and who sent it. Following the incident, security at Law Adviser’s residence has been strengthened. DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali confirmed the recovery of the drone and stated that it is currently being examined and has been sent to the forensic lab.
According to sources, at around 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, the drone was found on the grass near a mango tree in the garden, approximately 150 yards to the west of the main building of Law Adviser’s official residence.
Gardener Salma Haque discovered the drone while cleaning the garden and handed it over to the legal adviser’s personal officer, Delwar Hossain.
After being informed, a team from the Digital Forensics Unit of the City Cyber Crime Investigation Division, part of the CTTC under the DMP, reached the location at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Sources also disclosed that during the inspection, it was discovered that the drone was labeled "Made in China" and had a takeoff weight of 249 grams. It did not contain a memory card for storing footage, and the battery had been detached for security purposes.
Review of the CCTV footage from the residence showed that one camera captured the drone landing at 5:29 p.m. on the previous day, Friday. The drone was not visible in footage from any other cameras. Currently, the drone is in the forensic lab of the City Cyber Crime Investigation Division of the CTTC.
