The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has launched an investigation into a Bashundhara Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (BDPL) match following allegations of possible irregularities.
The match in question played on Wednesday between Gulshan Cricket Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, has come under scrutiny amid suspicions of misconduct.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the BCB reaffirmed its “zero-tolerance policy toward any form of corruption or misconduct” and emphasized its commitment to preserving the integrity of the game.
“The BCB Anti-Corruption Unit and the League’s Technical Committee have jointly initiated a probe into the reported irregularities,” the statement read.
While the board did not disclose specific details regarding the concerns, it assured that “necessary actions” would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The Bashundhara Dhaka Premier League (BDPL)—Bangladesh’s premier 50-over domestic competition—has faced occasional controversies in the past, prompting calls for stronger oversight and greater transparency.
As part of the ongoing probe, the BCB confirmed that its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has already begun its inquiry, focusing on two players: Rahim Ahmed and Minhajul Abedin.
On Thursday, both cricketers were summoned to the academy ground at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, where ACU officials attempted to reconstruct the controversial dismissal using cameras positioned on either side of the central wicket.
