Abhimanyu Singh, who has done several Hindi films, recently opened up about the trend of South remakes in Bollywood. In an interview, the actor slammed the Hindi film industry for remaking movies from the South in Bollywood. The actor wondered if the filmmakers here are unable to write a story, reports Times of India.
Abhimanyu Singh has been working in the Hindi film industry for many years. However, the actor had his breakthrough performance in Ram Gopal Varma's Rakht Charitra. In a recent interview, the actor, last seen in L2 Empuraan, voiced his opinion about remaking popular South movies in Bollywood. Abhimanyu wondered if Bollywood filmmakers are not able to write stories.
Speaking with Filmygyan, Abhimanyu revealed that producers are waiting to get talented actors, but the right ones aren't able to reach them. The actor feels there needs to be a structure for this gap to be filled. "Somewhere it is wrong, because if the film industry has so many talented people, why aren’t they able to reach heights? Why are we needing to remake South films? Kya dimaag ghaas charne chala gaya hai? We can’t write a story?," he said.
The actor further voiced his opinion about star kids getting several opportunities to prove themselves. "You have to focus on your work. In terms of deserving and non-deserving, this world isn’t a fair place, everybody doesn’t get their due. But I will agree that talent should be brought forth. We have a lot of talent in the film industry, but it isn’t reaching the correct place. We have talented writers sitting at tea stalls," added Abhimanyu.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Abhimanyu was recently seen in Mohanalal's L2: Empuraan. He played the role of Baba Bajrangi in the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial. Reported to be made on a budget of Rs 180 crore, it is said to be one of the most expensive Malayalam films to date. Produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Lyca Productions and Sree Gokulam Movies, L2: Empuraan was theatrically released on March 27, 2025.
