Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has suggested that teachers should not take part in local government elections, warning that those who wish to vote or run should consider resigning from their positions.
He made the remarks at a program on Thursday titled ‘Global Partnership for Education System Transformation Grant and Multipillar Grant for Bangladesh’ organized by UNESCO at the Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka.
The Education Minister said, “I am thinking that teachers should not participate in the upcoming elections and the government should make a law in this regard, that teachers should not go to local government elections. If they have to go, they should quit their jobs.”
He also said, that the investments we are making for the training and development of teachers should be used properly. The Prime Minister is moving forward with that goal. Its success depends on all of you. We have to build the Bangladesh of the future at any cost.
