Gold prices in Bangladesh have reached a new record, with 22-carat gold rising by Tk2,403 to Tk1,59,027 per bhori (11.664 grams), the highest ever in the country.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Thursday, citing the price hike of pure gold in the local market.
As per the new rate, the price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk13,634 per gram, and 21-carat Tk13,014 per gram.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk11,155 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk9,203 per gram.
New prices will come into effect on Friday, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
