Forest land of Tk 50 crore in market value was recovered in a drive conducted by joint forces in Kapilatali Mouza of Rajendrapur East Bit of Sreepur Upazila of Gazipur on Tuesday.
The drive was conducted on the instructions of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan.
120 illegal houses and structures under construction and newly constructed were evicted in the drive. In addition, about 6 acres of forest land was freed from encroachment.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of the District Administration Gazipur and led by the Sreepur Upazila Nirbahi Officer. The army, RAB, Forest Department and police participated in the drive.
Such drives will continue to protect forest land, wildlife and biodiversity, according to the authories.
