Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar, the Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, stated on Monday that approximately 97 percent of textbooks have been distributed, and the rest will be delivered by mid-March.
He said this while speaking at a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, reports BSS.
Azad said that this year, the distribution of textbooks has been slightly delayed. About 39.6 crore textbooks were supposed to be distributed at various levels; while of those, 38.29 crore textbooks have been printed and distributed, he said, adding that it has not been possible to print 1.05 crore textbooks yet.
The deputy press secretary added, “The interim government thinks that it would be possible to print and distribute the remaining textbooks within a week.”
Azad said Education Adviser Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has informed that the process of printing textbooks for next year will begin on Tuesday.
