British High Commissioner in Dhaka Sarah Cooke on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at the Jamaat central office in the capital.
During the meeting, they exchanged greetings in a very cordial atmosphere and exchanged views on the overall political situation of Bangladesh.
Apart from the present political situation of the country, establishment of democracy, upcoming elections, human rights situation, the condition of minorities in Bangladesh and the Rohingya issues dominated the discussion.
They also discussed ways to further improve and strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Great Britain.
The British envoy was accompanied by Political Counselor Timothy Duckett.
