Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer (south region) of National Citizen Party (NCP), called upon all anti-fascist political forces to reach a national consensus to eliminate Awami League (AL) politics from the country, reports the Daily Sun.
“We don’t want to see the Awami League in politics again. All anti-fascist political parties should reach a national consensus, setting an example for the next generation,” he made the call while addressing an Iftar party held at a hotel in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Expressing his gratitude to the anti-fascist forces, Hasnat, one of the key leaders of the Student Against Discrimination (SAD), which led the student-people mass uprising, said that the entire nation is going through a reform process.
“We hope that we will be able to reach our destination within a very short time on completion of the reform process,” said the NCP leader, who played a vital role in ousting Sheikh Hasina-led autocratic government.
The countrymen have endured fascism for a long period and many people were killed, abducted, disappeared and repressed and oppressed by the fascist rule, he said.
“Our common goal is to forge a national unity and I am optimistic that we will be able to do so by forgetting differences among us,” he said.
