The doctors in Osmani Medical College in Sylhet went on ‘complete shutdown’ to realize their 5-point demands. They are observing this program from 10 am on Tuesday.
Under the movement, the ‘academic shutdown’ will remain in place and students-faculty members, academics, administrative heads (including the principal director) will participate in the protest.
In a special announcement of the movement, all doctors (including interns, mid-level doctors- CA, registrar, private FCPS trainees, residents, non-residents, etc.) from physicians to professors in the hospital will go on strike and outdoor medical services will be closed. It has also been mentioned that the private chambers of all doctors will also be closed.
Students of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and intern doctors of the hospital have made these calls in solidarity with the program of the National Steering Committee. The protesters have also issued a notice that such a situation will remain in force until further notice.
In addition, medical students and the medical community, regardless of party affiliation, will join the 'Dhaka Chalo' mass rally together.
Earlier, on Monday afternoon, trainee doctors of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital went on strike and protested with five-point demands, including stopping the use of the title of doctor without an MBBS degree.
