Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk2,822 to Tk1,37,554 per bhori (11.664 grams) in the local market amid a tariff drop on ‘pure gold’.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Tuesday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk11,793 per gram, while it is Tk11,257 for 21-carat gold, reads a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,649 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk7,918 per gram.
The new tariff will come into effect on Wednesday, the release added.
Meanwhile, the price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, while Tk210 for 21-carat silver, Tk181 for 18-carat silver, and Tk136 for traditional silver.
