The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has assured the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) of full cooperation in ensuring the security of jewellery establishments affiliated with BAJUS in the capital.
DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sazzat Ali made this assurance during a meeting with a BAJUS delegation on Thursday, according to a press release.
While urging jewellery establishment owners to take responsibility for their security, Sazzat Ali recommended that BAJUS leaders install CCTV cameras at the entrances of markets and shops and maintain alert security guards.
The DMP commissioner emphasized that the police will ensure legal jewellery traders are not harassed.
The BAJUS delegation was led by Acting President Gulzar Ahmed, General Secretary Badal Chandra Roy, Executive Member Anwar Hossain, Vice President Samit Ghosh Apu, and Treasurer Uttam Banik.
