A vessel carrying 9,500 tonne of boiled rice from India has docked at Chittagong port under the international open tender agreement.
This information was provided in a press release signed by Imdad Islam, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Food on Thursday.
The release stated that under the open tender contract, an agreement has been made to import a total of 450,000 tonne of rice from India in 9 packages. Of this, 297,269 tonne of rice have already arrived in the country.
The rice samples aboard the ship have been tested, and the unloading is set to begin shortly. The Ministry of Food has also stated that all necessary preparations have been made for the process.
