I have said it before and I say it again, Awami League (AL) has no right to do politics in this country, said the convener of the National Citizens Party (NCP) Nahid Islam.
He said this after visiting the graves of the martyrs of the July uprising at the Jurain Cemetery in the capital on Monday afternoon.
Stating his position on the Awami League very clearly, Nahid said, "The people of Bangladesh gave a verdict against the Awami League and Mujibism on August 5. Now let’s see how it will be implemented."
The NCP convener commented that banning AL’s activities is the mass demand of the people of Bangladesh at this moment.
He also said, "Since the trial is going on and we have faith in the trial, we think that the issue of banning the Awami League can be resolved through trial and political consensus."
Nahid said, "Even in the joy of Eid, there is sadness among us, because many families are celebrating Eid without the brothers and sisters we lost in the uprising. I came to the Jurain Cemetery to share thare pain and suffering.”
He also said that the National Citizens Party will always stand by those killed and injured in the July Uprising.
