Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for the northern region, said their party is ready to take challenge to contest in 300 seats in national parliament.
"Earlier, politics was about buying nominations with money, getting elected through rigging in the dark of night and going to the parliament. This time, the people will get their voting rights back. We want to be elected through the direct vote of the people and go to parliament to represent the people. As the organizational team of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) for the northern region, we will go to the 32 districts under our responsibility. We think that politics has not been the politics of the masses for the past decade. We will go even to the people in the remote corners of the country, in the alleys and streets, and present to them what we want to do, and the expectations we have for Bangladesh,” he said.
Sarjis said, “The National Citizens Party is ready to take on the challenge of nominating candidates for 300 seats in the national parliament elections. We are used to taking on such challenges. The Party has been in existence for a month. We will try our best from our place so that honest, qualified and patriotic candidates can be nominated."
He told this to the reporter after Friday prayers at the Keramatia Mosque in Rangpur.
Sarjis Alam said, "We had the blood-drenched bodies of July-August in front of our eyes. If we can keep the scenario in front of us, then we will never be distracted from the spirit of July 24th. We can work to build the future Bangladesh according to the people's will. If we can work for the people, the people will give their verdict and take it to parliament."
Asked about the NCP committee, Sarjis Alam said, "We have started organizational activities from today. We will move into the committee formation process within a week. You will be able to see the district and upazila committees in April. We have numerous well-wishers in the districts and upazilas, those who think that these youth have led the country's uprising and have the skills to lead the district and upazila. This leadership will depend on the youth, but the elders will definitely be there. Those who have acceptance, competencies and honesty will come to the leadership position in that area. The courage, enthusiasm and determination of the youth are needed for us to move forward. The advice and experience of the elders are very necessary for us to move forward. The elders and the youth will work together.”
