Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has reassured that the country's economy will remain unaffected during the upcoming nine-day Eid holiday period.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Advisory Council on Government Procurement at the Secretariat on Thursday, Dr. Ahmed emphasized that despite the extended break, the economy would not stagnate.
“Most of the council members will remain in Dhaka during the holidays, ensuring no disruptions,” he said.
Dr Salehuddin said that there will be no problem in taking decisions even if the secretaries go out of the country. These days, decisions can be taken digitally.
The adviser also said that the meeting of the Advisory Committee on Government Procurement approved the purchase of 50,000 metric tons of basmati rice, 70,000 metric tons of fertilizer from Saudi Arabia and the domestic market, and two cargoes of LNG from the spot market through open tender.
