Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday urged Asian countries to outline a clear roadmap for a shared future and prosperity.
He made the remark while addressing the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference in Hainan, reports BSS.
"In this changing world, the fates of Asian countries are intertwined. We must develop a clear roadmap for a shared future and prosperity," he said.
On financial cooperation, the chief adviser emphasized the need for a sustainable financing mechanism, with regional Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and similar institutions leading the effort.
"We need reliable funding to address our challenges and meet growing demands," he said.
Regarding trade, he noted that Asia remains one of the least integrated regions, which stifles investment and commerce. "We must work to enhance trade cooperation immediately," he stressed.
On food and agriculture, Prof. Yunus urged Asian nations to promote resource-efficient farming and boost domestic production for food security. "We must reduce import reliance and achieve self-sufficiency. Expanding tech-based, sustainable agriculture and investing in regenerative, climate-smart farming is key," he added.
The chief adviser also called for building a strong, inclusive tech ecosystem. "We need to share knowledge and data while investing in technology incubation and innovation. Collaboration on digital solutions will drive progress," he said.
Finally, he emphasized the need to mobilize intellectual resources and youth power at the heart of collective actions. "We must lay the foundation for a new civilization—one that is self-preserving and self-reinforcing. A counter-culture based on a zero-waste lifestyle is essential. Consumption should be limited to essential needs, and our economy should focus on social business, where innovation, purpose, and responsibility converge," he stated.
He urged the Boao Forum and similar initiatives to enhance collaboration among youth and entrepreneurs to make Asia a better place for future generations.
The chief adviser concluded by emphasizing the importance of nurturing young people as three-zero individuals—committed to zero net carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration, and zero unemployment through entrepreneurship in social business.
"This is the shared future we must create together in Asia," he said.
