The toll authority of the Padma Bridge has collected around Tk3.24 crore over 24 hours during the Eid-ul-Fitr journey.
The toll was collected from a total of 26,428 vehicles at the Mawa and Zajira points of the bridge between 12:00 am on Tuesday and 12:00 am Wednesday.
Padma Bridge site office Executive Engineer Abu Saeed confirmed the amount.
"In the last 24 hours, 14,992 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge from the Mawa point, while 11,436 vehicles crossed from the Zajira point," he said.
The official added that the Mawa point of the Padma Bridge did not experience any significant traffic congestion due to the Eid vacation, TBS reported.
As a result, vehicles going to the southern districts from the capital are crossing the bridge without any hassle.
All the toll booths at the bridge's Mawa point have been kept operational to collect tolls quickly. Tolls are being collected at a total of seven booths so that vehicles can cross the bridge in a short time, Saeed added.
A separate lane has been created on the bridge and the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway for the movement of motorcycles.
