Today (Thursday) marks the final day for banking transactions before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. Banks are set to go on a nine-day holiday starting from Friday.
The holiday includes the weekend, Eid holidays, and special leave.
However, some bank branches in garment industry areas will open for limited hours on Friday and Saturday under special arrangements.
Throughout the period, ATM booths, online banking, and mobile banking services will remain operational 24/7.
Bank officials expect heavy crowds today as customers rush to complete transactions, including cash withdrawals, loan disbursements, remittance exchanges, savings bond encashments, and profit withdrawals. Banks made necessary preparations to handle the increased demand.
On Friday and Saturday, certain bank branches will operate for limited hours in specific areas, including Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Valuka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram.
On Friday, transactions will be available from 10 am to 12 pm, while on Saturday, they will continue from 10 am to 1 pm.
Additionally, foreign exchange branches will also remain open on Saturday under special arrangements, allowing exporters to encash export bills and pay wages to workers. However, loan-related transactions will not be processed during this time.
Regular banking operations will resume on April 6 (Sunday), with transactions available from 10 am to 4 pm.
