Indian bassist Mohini Dey, a long-time collaborator of Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, recently addressed rumors speculating about a potential relationship with the music legend.
The rumors began circulating after reports of a separation between AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, coincided with Mohini Dey's own announcement of her separation from her husband, Mark.
In response to speculation on social media, Dey directly addressed the issue through an Instagram story, calling the rumors "baseless" and emphasizing that they had no connection to her personal life.
Dey also mentioned receiving numerous media requests for interviews but made it clear that she had no intention of engaging with "unfounded gossip."
Rahman’s wife’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, has also dismissed the speculation, clarifying that the issues in Rahman’s marriage are unrelated to Dey's personal situation. According to Dey, her separation from her husband is a mutual decision made amicably.
In a joint statement, Dey and her husband expressed, "We remain good friends despite this personal decision," and asked fans to respect their privacy.
Dey, a talented musician from Kolkata, is widely recognized for her skills and has performed with Rahman in over 40 concerts worldwide.
