Former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar said Awami League government manipulated the judicial system to unjustly give death sentence and life imprisonment to me for not agreeing to give false testimony against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
After 17 years of imprisonment, Md. Lutfozzaman Babar said this at a public reception at the historic Moktarpara ground in Netrokona town.
He said, “The cruel killer Hasina government filed a false case against me, sentenced me to death, and tried to suppress me by carrying out unspeakable torture and humiliation. But I didn’t compromise. I didn’t bow my head to the cruel government. I have always been on the path of truth, am, and will always be, God willing.”
Crowds of people gathered at Babar's public reception organized by the district BNP on Sunday afternoon. The venue turned into a sea of people.
He said, “With the prayers and support of the countrymen including Netrokona and by the infinite mercy of Allah, I have been acquitted of all the cases. I am willing to risk my life to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country; I am ready to make any sacrifice.”
Babar also said,” The autocratic Hasina government has fallen due to the mass uprising of the students and the mass people. Democracy has not yet been established in the country. I strongly demand from the interim government that a roadmap for the elections be announced soon.”
At this time, he said, “Bangladesh must be loved. Bangladesh comes first.”
