Recently, a video of a policeman went viral on social media. Instead of baton charging, the constable was seen dispersing protesters by pretending to be a baton charger.
Netizens shared the video and praised his job. The name of that police constable is Md. Riyad Hossain. He works in the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
This time, police constable Riyad Hossain is receiving the 'President's Police Medal-PPM' award in recognition of his good job in the police. Riad is being given this medal for applying intelligent policing techniques to calm the movement.
Senior assistant secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Toufiq Ahmed signed it on March 27 under the President's order. The Home Ministry published it in the form of a notification on Sunday.
The notification said that in 2025, police member Riyad Hossain has been awarded the 'President's Police Medal (PPM-Service)' in recognition of his innovative and intelligent policing strategy to maintain public order by showing respect for citizens. This order will come into effect from the date of notification.
In the past, the Bangladesh Police Medal-BPM and the President's Police Medal-PPM were given to police members during the Police Week. This time, it is being given differently in the case of Riyad.
