Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumer Das returned from his maiden Pakistan Super League (PSL) stint with nothing but disappointment.
His PSL journey came to an abrupt end even before it began, as he sustained an injury that ruled him out of action. A fracture in his finger means the Tiger batter will be out of the field for at least two weeks. Naturally, Litton is quite frustrated after his early exit from the tournament.
Karachi Kings have already replaced Litton with Australian batter Ben McDermott.
After it was confirmed that the injury would sideline him, Litton left Pakistan and arrived in Dhaka late Saturday night.
Upon returning, he did not hide his disappointment while speaking to the media.
Appreciating the empathetic approach of the Karachi Kings management, Litton said, "They were really helpful. Mentally, they were very supportive. They left the entire decision up to me. They knew it would take some time and gave me space to understand the extent of the pain. Recovering from an injury like this usually takes 2–3 weeks, and playing such a high-intensity tournament without proper training is really difficult."
His voice tinged with frustration, Litton added, "I felt that with the national team's fixtures coming up, it was important to focus on recovery. That’s why I decided to return. I couldn’t take anything positive from this PSL — it was all a loss. I think I lost more than I gained."
For context, the 10th edition of the PSL kicked off on April 11. Litton's team, Karachi Kings, played their first match yesterday, pulling off a thrilling chase against Multan Sultans.
Batting first, Multan posted a massive total of 234 runs, thanks to a century from captain Mohammad Rizwan.
In reply, Karachi chased it down with four balls and four wickets to spare, powered by a century from James Vince.
