The phrase ‘Except Israel’ has been reinstated on Bangladeshi passports.
This information was announced in a notification signed by Nilima Afroze, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, on April 7.
Nilima Afroze confirmed the development to the media on Sunday.
On Saturday’s historic ‘March for Gaza’ event, various political and religious leaders from Bangladesh called on leaders of the Muslim world to take decisive action to stop the genocide, prosecute Israel in international court, boycott Israeli products, and sever ties with Israel.
They also demanded the reinstatement of ‘Except Israel’ on Bangladeshi passports and urged the government to take adequate measures to send humanitarian aid and medical assistance to Gaza.
Earlier, several political and religious organizations had made similar demands to the government.
It is mentionable that in 2021, the fascist Sheikh Hasina government removed the ‘Except Israel’ clause from Bangladeshi passports.
