CID fans may soon see the return of the show’s most iconic character, ACP Pradyuman, played by veteran actor Shivaji Satam. Just days after the show seemingly wrote off the character, reports suggest he is set to make a comeback.
According to The Times of India, Shivaji Satam is expected to resume filming within the next few weeks. His character, long considered the backbone of CID since its launch in 1998, was recently shown being caught in a deadly blast during a mission to catch criminal Barboza, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia. However, the explosion was never shown directly, leaving room for speculation.
Following the episode, Sony Entertainment shared a tribute on social media that hinted at the character's end, calling it "the end of an era." But backlash from fans and media buzz seems to have prompted a change of plans.
Meanwhile, actor Parth Samthaan recently joined the CID team and had hinted at replacing ACP Pradyuman. A source close to the production, however, clarified that Parth’s role is temporary. “The character of ACP Pradyuman is timeless. The makers have brought characters back before, and twists like these aren’t new,” the source said, adding that Shivaji could begin shooting as early as next week.
Shivaji Satam, when contacted earlier, had said he was on a break and had no confirmation on his character’s future. CID, which returned to TV this year after a six-year hiatus, now airs new episodes every Saturday and Sunday at 10 pm on Sony and also streams on Netflix and Sony LIV.
Fans of the crime drama will be watching closely to see if their beloved ACP indeed makes a grand return.
