The Islamic Foundation has urged the authorities concerned to hold the Jumma prayers at the same time in all mosques across the country.
In a press release on Sunday, the Islamic Foundation said Friday is a day for communal gathering and is considered a weekly Eid. It holds special significance and sanctity due to the blessings and goodness present at a specific time on this day.
It observed that in Bangladesh, Jumma prayers are held at different times in different mosques — some start at 1:00 pm while others at 1:30 pm and some at 1:50 pm.
Due to this variation in timing, Muslim devotees — especially travellers and pedestrians — often face confusion and difficulties.
To resolve this issue and for the convenience of devotees, the Islamic Foundation has called for Jumma prayers to be held uniformly at 1:30 pm in all mosques nationwide.
The press release concluded with a directive, requesting that necessary measures be taken to ensure the prayers are conducted at the same time 1:30 pm in all mosques within respective divisions and districts.
