The oppressed people of Gaza have called for a global strike on Monday to protest the Genocide in Gaza. They have called for the simultaneous closure of all educational institutions, government and private offices, and courts in all countries of the world to demand an end to the massacre.
In social media posts, the organizer of the campaign announced, “We all have a duty to follow. No School. No Universities. No Work. Until the genocide ends. Everyone must move for this cause. We cannot sit by in the digital world while an entire population is being starved, bombed, and erased. Connect with one another. Protest. Mobilize. Move.”
The spirit of the movement also touched the Bangladeshi people and political entities leaders have announced to follow the campiagn in solidarity with the Gaza people.
Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer (northern region) of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has called for a global strike tomorrow.
In a Facebook post, the young leader wrote, "As human beings and Muslims, our responsibility should not be limited to closing these (educational institutions-offices-courts) but rather, students and people from all over the country, regardless of party affiliation, should take to the streets together and protest against the Israeli murderers. We may not be able to stand and fight alongside our brothers and sisters in Gaza at this moment. But we can at least take to the streets of our own land to declare solidarity with their struggle."
He said, “Not under the banner of NCP, BNP, Jamaat or any (political) party, but under the banner of 'Bangladesh', regardless of party or opinion, we can take to the streets tomorrow and stand against the massacre in Gaza. We can raise slogans against the murderer, bloodthirsty Netanyahu. Let a few students in every district take responsibility as representatives of the student body and observe this program together. On April 7, let it be for the oppressed people of Gaza, not for any party, opinion or party, but for the sake of Bangladesh.”
Former president of Dhaka University Chhatra Shibir branch Abu Sadik Kayem has made the same call. On his Facebook page, he wrote, “Be part of global solidarity towards Gaza. Make this 'No Work, No School' program a success tomorrow, Monday, April 7.”
Dhaka University (DU) student leaders and two organizers of the movement to ban the genocidal Awami League, Musaddiq Ali Ibn Mohammad and AB Jobaeer, have expressed sympathy for the ongoing brutal attacks on Palestine by Israel and called for standing up for the illegally oppressed Palestinians. They have requested for the success of the ‘No Work, No School’ program organized by Palestinian youth on Monday. They have also urged every department to make this program a success.
In a press release, Rezwan Ahmed Rifat, former coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said, “‘March For Palestine’ calls for a solidarity rally against the genocide in Palestine and the demand for an independent Palestine in all educational institutions of Bangladesh on April 7. The solidarity and protest rally will be held centrally at the Raju Sculpture of Dhaka University at 4 pm.”
