Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has noted that following the fall of the fascist Awami League government in the face of a mass uprising, a new atmosphere has emerged for all to convene without any fear.
"After the August 5 uprising, we have the opportunity to sit together. We are able to exchange views at the Jamaat office. For this, I first thank the Almighty Allah," he said while speaking at a view-exchange programme with leaders of the Greater Khulna Development Movement Coordination Committee at the Khulna city Jamaat office on Sunday.
The Jamaat leader also prayed for the salvation of the departed souls of those who were martyred in the mass uprising and for the recovery of the injured.
He called for working by transcending political affiliations for the development of Khulna and the southern region. "I have been active in all movements and struggles for the development of this region and will continue to be so in the future," he added.
Golam Parwar urged all to observe the planned sit-in programme in front of the Khulna deputy commissioner’s office on April 16 and submit a memorandum to the DC in protest against the decision to transport gas from Bhola to Dhaka instead of supplying it to Khulna.
