Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Tajul Islam, claimed on Sunday that bombs had been planted with the intent to kill investigators working on enforced disappearance cases, reads a UNB report.
“While conducting this investigation, we discovered that bombs had been planted to target those involved in the investigation, including myself as the Chief Prosecutor,” Tajul said during a press briefing at the ICT premises.
He further shared, “We found semi-underground cells sealed by walls, and garbage had to be removed to uncover the crime scenes.”
Tajul emphasized that the investigators' work has been met with numerous challenges, which might be why the public is unaware of the complexities involved.
He also addressed the ongoing conspiracies aimed at disrupting the tribunal’s judicial process, stating, “There are various conspiracies being devised to hinder the judicial process. However, no conspiracy or scandal will succeed in halting the tribunal’s work. No one will be able to prove corruption within the prosecution or investigation team.”
“The government has responded positively to this, and we hope that the formation of at least a second tribunal will commence soon. However, any attempts by the accused to disrupt the process will fail,” he added.
