Babar Ali has conquered Annapurna-1 (8,091 meters) in the Himalayas as the first Bangladeshi. He is the first Bangladeshi to achieve this feat.
He reached the peak on Monday morning. Guide Phurba Angel Sherpa was with Babar on the moment.
The information about Babar Ali's ascent to the mountain peak was confirmed to the media by expedition manager Farhan Zaman and owner of Makalu Adventure in Nepal Mohan Lamsal.
Expedition manager Farhan Zaman said, "By reaching the cliff peak of Annapurna-1, Babar Ali has added a new chapter in the history of mountaineering in Bangladesh. This success is a reflection of his hard work and relentless perseverance. We hope this achievement will open new horizons in mountaineering in Bangladesh."
Mountaineer Babar Ali is a doctor by profession. He is one of the founders and general secretary of the Chattogram-based mountaineering club Vertical Dreamers. Last year, he became the first Bangladeshi to conquer the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest, and the fourth highest mountain, Lhotse, in the same expedition.
Annapurna-1 is the tenth highest mountain in the world. However, it is known as one of the most dangerous mountains in the world considering the death rate of the climbers. Babar Ali went from Bangladesh to Nepal on March 24 to conquer this inaccessible mountain. After completing the preparatory work, he reached Annapurna Base Camp via Pokhara from Kathmandu on March 28. He rested there for a day. Then, to acclimatize himself to the altitude, he spent two nights at Camp 1 (5200 meters) and one night at Camp 2 (5700 meters) and came down to Base Camp again on April 2.
