Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk1,155 to Tk1,53,370 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Sunday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk13,149 per gram, while 21-carat gold is priced at Tk12,551 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, committee chairman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,758 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk8,865 a gram.
The new tariffs will come into effect on Monday, the release added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional silver Tk136 a gram.
