The US Secretary of State’s IWOC Awards recognize women around the world who have demonstrated exceptional courage, strength, and leadership, often at big personal risk.
The State Department has honored more than 200 women from more than 90 countries with the IWOC Awards since 2007, the State Department said. U.S. diplomatic missions across the world nominate a courageous woman from their host country, and the finalists are selected and approved by senior department officials.
