BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that after the fall of fascist, the election breeze is blowing across the country.
He on Tuesday made the statement in a press briefing after sharing after exchanging Eid greetings with leaders and activists.
“Today, everyone is in a state of joy and excitement and a festive atmosphere is visible,” he said, adding that people are enjoying the taste of democracy.
However, he stressed that the democracy is not fully restored. He said, “Now you see election breeze everywhere. Everyone is showing interests and enthusiasm and feels that the country is moving towards the election.”
“The way elections are held here in a festive atmosphere, today it seems that the people of Bangladesh are moving towards that joyful atmosphere of elections after many years.”
Recounting the struggle of the last 16 years, the BNP leader said, “With desire for running the parliament-government by the elected representatives who will be accountable for their work, freedom, and democracy, we fought for 16-17 years.”
He said that the people waited for the desires to be fulfilled, so today’s situation is completely different. “This is Bangladesh, and it must be kept like this.”
A reception was organized at his residence in Mehedibagh, Chittagong where thousands of leaders and activists of BNP, its affiliates and affiliated organizations participated.
